I did my early morning grocery shopping run today and the entrance to the supermarket was blocked by a massive queue of motorist waiting to get into the petrol station. The entrance to the garage is also the entrance to the supermarket, so I broke the law, overtook the queue and entered the supermarket by the exit gate. Panic buying of petrol everywhere, although on my way home a smaller garage only had a few cars in it. My local one has closed all its pumps. I have over a half a tank and that will last me several weeks, so I will not be joining any queues.
You British would probably think that going to a gas station meant to dine in a Mexican restaurant.
petrol (UK) = gas(US)
If you lived in a caravan, you would visit a gas supply shop
What's up with the panic buying anyway? Did I miss something? Was there a ransomware attack like in the US a few months ago?
In Kent, a couple of garages closed because they did not get a delivery. There is a shortage of HGV drivers. There is no petrol shortage, but the media went into overdrive about the situation, and it has caused panic buying, just like it was with toilet rolls. I would guess once everyone has filled their cars and jerry cans, things will return to normal.
@Dave Sutton - Ah, sounds like another Right Wing propaganda job to me. Am I wrong?
@David Lazarus I really don't know, you are more into politics than I am :) Would be interesting to see if Corinne is affected as she is several miles north of me
