Leaving a job

I discovered this photo, and it was the one occasion that I wore make up other than the photo shopping I have done. It was when I left a job as joinery foreman to become project manager for another company. Every one buggered off up to the pub and left me Sellotaped to the post. I eventually got free and joined them

This David loved them and eventually the whole company ran on one, from very basic ones in Excel to very complex ones. They made life so much easier

It would have made my life so much easier had companies I interviewed with back in the day had confidence in me to learn the ropes of emerging technology. Alas, they did not.

@David Lazarus My boss always let me interview the last remaining people he thought suitable for a job. I would take them for a tour of the company and just chat to them, that way it was so easy to see if anyone had any common sense, initiative and could work as a team. It seems to work because he started with 4 employees including me and ended up with a modern factory and open-plan office employing over 30 people

It seems to happen to me when I leave jobs, it was in good fun and the bloke with the red hat followed me to my new employer and became an absolute whizz with Data bases. Another David of course!

I could manipulate databases back in the day. I used to do dBase IV programming. Sadly, I never did much with relational databases because companies would not hire me and allow me to learn it.
